Sometimes it gets me.

Re: Covenant Eyes is Looking for Android App Testers

Thanks for your comments. I don't work for Covenant Eyes but I'll be sure to pass your comments along to my contacts there.

Re: Covenant Eyes is Looking for Android App Testers

I am a new user of CE:
Mac + Windows + Android.
It is running smoothly on all platforms, thank you guys.

I just got a call from someone from CE. Im really glad they take such an interest in new users. He asked if I had any questions and my questions were all about Android. To make a long story short, I told him that I have uninstalled all non-stock browsers (dolphin HD and opera), but must urge him to ask the developers to clearly flag the download of alternate browsers in the report. Otherwise, frankly, Im basically under the same honor system I was on before I installed CE.

Im a single guy, I dont have anyone like a wife who is going to stop what they are doing for an hour each week and plow through every single detail of a report and research it. I know the guy I was able to get as an accountability partner is only going to be looking for flagged or suspicious items and maybe check on those. He is active in church activities, and is going through chemotherapy and has a family and a job.
Burying the handful of obviously dangerous apps (like other browsers) inside the report makes no sense. I know he wont see it. The entire reason I am using CE and not the cheaper X3 is that you cant just walk around it by changing browsers (or so people say). If you can just walk around CE by changing browsers then it is just a fig leaf.
He said that I could have all ap installs locked down and make an appointment to discuss with my accountability partner any time I want to try a new ap on my phone.
Huh?!!! Just trying to find apps to work with my diet I install and uninstall dozens.
Look I understand you guys can only do what is possible. But, since you are already able to detect installs, Please consider doing the following:
1. Lock in the android setting that limits installed aps to the below the age-18-and-over level (its already an option in android in settings). 2. Lock off the option to install apps from outside the android ap store (also an option in android settings)3. WARN clearly in the report about downloading anything that is categorized as a browser4. Keep a list of the few other aps (if there are any) that are also an issue and WARN on those too.
PLEASE CONSIDER THIS, so that CE will actually be more than a fig leaf on the Android.
Thanks for all your work on CE.

Re: Time Management is the Bloggers Greatest Tool

So true.
